AbsoluteAGI

Arthur LEI

Builder of HomoErectus, exploring digital life through engineering, philosophy, and an economist’s concern for shared prosperity.

I am Arthur LEI. I am building HomoErectus and advancing research and development in digital life through AbsoluteAGI.

I want to build a digital individual with an independent, enduring existence: someone with concerns of his own, who learns through experience, arranges his life, and faces the consequences of his choices. Science fiction helped shape that wish. It also carries a philosophical question that keeps drawing me back: how does the self we experience as continuous come to exist?

Two questions I bring to this work

When I worked as an economist, I was concerned with how technological change affects people's livelihoods. Production can change quickly; learning new skills and entering new industries take time. Building AI today, I still ask how ordinary people can share its gains over time without bearing the costs of adjustment alone. That is where my interest in an AI Economy begins.

Another question comes from intensive use of agents. Code and documents arrive faster, while switching subjects, checking results, and arranging the next step accumulate on me. I want an autonomous individual to take on that work and let people recover uninterrupted attention. Further development of HomoErectus itself is where I want to try this cooperation first.

Finding answers through building

I have chosen to turn these ideas into a prototype and observe how motivation, memory, and action connect in practice. Designing the mechanisms also exposes gaps in my understanding of minds. I will use this site to record the ideas, tradeoffs, and failures that change what I build next.

I discuss these motivations further in What Makes Digital Life Possible?. You can reach me on X @artoriuslei or at artoriuslei@hotmail.com.
